Flu cases are still considered widespread across New York, but there’s been a 50% reduction in total cases recently.
The New York State Health Connector reported a significant decrease in confirmed flu cases.
According to the data, there are 7,373 confirmed cases of the flu in the state, with 5,988 of those cases being Influenza Type A and 829 being Influenza Type B. There were 556 unspecified cases.
Here’s how flu cases broke down in the Finger Lakes region by county:
Cayuga: 16
Livingston: 20
Schuyler: 4
Seneca: 6
Steuben: 30
Chemung: 22
Ontario: 35
Tompkins: 9
Yates: 7
Wayne: 15
Larger counties just outside the region, including Monroe and Onondaga saw 132 and 71 cases respectively. However, Monroe reported one of the largest decreases in total cases across the state.
