A Waterloo man faces multiple felony charges after deputies say he crashed an SUV into a ditch and culvert in the Town of Fayette, then fled the scene before being captured nearby Monday evening.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Hennigan was driving a 2018 GMC Acadia westbound on West River Road when the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane, left the roadway, and struck a road culvert at the intersection. Deputies reported the SUV sustained significant front-end damage.

Investigators said Hennigan fled the crash scene on foot but was apprehended a short time later. Deputies also alleged he was found in possession of several controlled substances at the time of his arrest.

Hennigan was charged with felony driving while ability impaired by drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, multiple counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, and several vehicle and traffic violations.

He was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await CAP Court proceedings.
