Nick Meyer’s walk-off single lifts Syracuse Mets over Lehigh Valley

The Syracuse Mets started their homestand off on the right note by defeating the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 5-4, in walk-off fashion on Tuesday night at NBT Bank Stadium.

Nick Meyer was the hero for Syracuse as he ripped a two-out walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to give Syracuse the victory. Meyer finished the night with a pair of hits and three RBIs.

The Mets jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Patrick Mazeika’s run-scoring single.

Worcester responded in the third and tied the game on Rafael Marchan’s RBI single.

Mazeika put Syracuse back on top in the fourth with his first home run of the season.

The Red Sox plated a run in the sixth to knot the game at two as Daniel Robertson picked up an RBI with a single.

Jorge Bonifacio gave Worcester their first lead of the game in the seventh with an RBI single. Syracuse regained their lead in the bottom of the frame as Meyer plated two runs with a single.

Worcester tied the game once again in the ninth on Darick Hall’s solo home run before the Mets walked it off in the bottom of the inning.

Nate Fisher started on the bump for Syracuse and surrendered an unearned run over five innings of work.

Yoan López, Bryce Montes de Oca, and R.J. Alvarez each allowed a run in relief for the Mets.

Game two of the six-game series is set for Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. Connor Grey is scheduled to start for the Mets.
