Steuben County announced ongoing bridge repairs that are expected to disrupt traffic along state Route 248 for several months. Work on the bridge over Bennett Creek at the Call Hill Road intersection began on April 17. The project, located between Canisteo and Greenwood, involves the installation of temporary stoplights and will reduce the road to one lane, with completion targeted for December.
Starting May 1, another repair project will begin on the bridge over Sugar Creek, situated one mile north of the Carl Hill Road intersection. This work is scheduled to be completed by October. Both projects are part of a broader initiative to maintain and enhance bridge safety across the county.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office has advised motorists to expect delays and to adhere to the posted construction signs and signals for safety. Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan for additional travel time or seek alternate routes.
