It was a major undertaking- but folks in the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District are celebrating.
From the start of the pandemic through February 2021 the district provided 281,000 meals to its students.
It was a team effort that included much more than food service workers in the district. They were joined by maintenance and transportation staff, as well as teachers, drivers, and other school workers who stepped up to ensure that no student went hungry.
The district provided meals for free funded through the Department of Agriculture.
The district is still providing meals, but have also included a pick-up option.
