The Yates County Sheriff’s Office announced its participation in the statewide STOP-DWI Impaired Driving High Visibility Engagement Campaign for Memorial Day weekend. The campaign will run from May 24 through May 27.
Sheriff Frank Ryan emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting that Memorial Day weekend is one of the busiest travel holidays and marks the official start of summer. “We aim to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving,” said Ryan. “Law enforcement agencies across New York will collaborate to reduce impaired driving-related injuries and deaths.”
To support this effort, the Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to download the “Have a Plan” mobile app, which helps users find safe rides home. The app is available at www.stopdwi.org/mobileapp.
“Impaired driving is completely preventable with a little planning,” Ryan added. “Have a safe and happy holiday weekend by ensuring you and others do not engage in drinking or drugged driving.”
