An 11-year-old boy was airlifted to a Rochester hospital after he was struck and run over by a vehicle while riding a skateboard in Hornell, police said.
The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. July 12 on Stephen Street. Police said the boy was lying on the skateboard when he crossed into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
Hornell Ambulance responded, and the child was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital. He was listed in stable condition.
The driver remained at the scene and was interviewed by law enforcement, according to Police Chief T.J. Murray. Hornell police are continuing to investigate the crash.
