Nearly 3 million New Yorkers will receive a combined $2.1 billion in property tax relief through the STAR program this summer and fall.
Most eligible homeowners will receive between $350 and $600, while seniors enrolled in Enhanced STAR can expect between $700 and $1,500.
Payments are being issued by check or direct deposit based on local school tax schedules, while some homeowners receive the benefit as a direct exemption on their tax bills.
The Finger Lakes region is expected to receive $193.7 million, with homeowners able to track payments, check eligibility or enroll through the state’s STAR portal.
State officials are encouraging recipients to use direct deposit and plan to hold regional seminars to help homeowners access and maximize their benefits.
