Business and community leaders gathered June 23 at Clifton Springs Country Club for the Ontario County Chamber of Commerce's annual State of the State program. The event featured state Sen. Pam Helming, Assemblymember Andrea Bailey and Assemblymember Jeff Gallahan, who shared updates from the recently concluded legislative session and answered questions from attendees.
The Chamber said the discussion covered health care, infrastructure, economic development and challenges facing employers and small businesses. The organization said the event was part of its advocacy work to connect members with decision-makers and ensure the voice of Ontario County's business community is heard throughout the year.
The update was included in the Chamber's latest "@113" newsletter, which also noted several recent member milestones.
CMAC is celebrating 20 years this season, while Quinlan's Medical is marking 40 years of service. Megan Freida, president of Embrace Your Sisters, was named the 2026 Woman of Distinction in the 54th Senate District. Roseland Waterpark opened for the season, and Meridian Acupuncture received the Bronze Award in the Acupuncture category for FLX Finest.
The Chamber also said its fifth Leadership Ontario cohort is full, but sponsorship opportunities remain available for the coming program year. Sponsors can support program days, scholarships or presenting sponsorships.
The newsletter also highlighted registration for the 2026 St. John Fisher University Career Fair, which will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Athletic Center Field House. The university-wide event is open to employers looking to promote internships, part-time or seasonal jobs, and full-time career opportunities.
Registration fees are $250 for for-profit organizations and $150 for nonprofit organizations, with two representatives included. Additional representatives cost $25 each, up to two additional people. Registration includes one 6-foot table, two chairs, lunch for registered representatives and shuttle service from the parking lot.
The Chamber also reminded members that New York's 2026 Consolidated Funding Application is open through July 31. The funding round includes more than 20 programs supporting economic development, workforce initiatives, community revitalization, tourism, infrastructure and other projects.
Upcoming community events listed by the Chamber include "A Year with Frog and Toad" from July 9 to July 18, the Gell Summer Open House on July 11, Yoga on the Porch at Sunny Point on July 18 and the Finger Lakes Vine to Glass Fourth Annual Sip & Shop Market on July 26.
