Seneca Meadows Education Center and Montezuma Audubon Center will host a free moth black-lighting event July 18 in Seneca Falls.
The event will feature Jason Dombroskie and Molly Jacobson and is designed to teach participants about moths and their role in the natural world.
Space is limited, and registration is required even though there is no charge to attend.
The program is sponsored by Seneca Meadows, Inc. Questions can be directed to 315-539-5089 or fred.leff@audubon.org.
The Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve includes 576 acres of wetland, grassland and woodland habitat, along with seven miles of trails. The preserve was created through mitigation efforts by Seneca Meadows Inc. that included planting native species, removing invasive species, adding six ponds and forming three habitats.
The education center works with the Montezuma Audubon Center and Audubon New York to offer hands-on learning programs tied to restoration and the preserve's value as an Important Bird Area.
