Two allegedly neglected dogs were removed from a Canisteo home and taken for emergency veterinary treatment after a Steuben County animal cruelty investigation.
Jessica A. Raish, 36, Mark A. Raish, 41, and Katelina M. Raish, 21, all of County Route 29 in Canisteo, were arrested June 2 following an investigation into reports of emaciated dogs, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators allege the three defendants failed to provide proper nourishment, hydration and sanitation for two dogs living in the home. Each was charged with two counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, specifically failure to provide proper sustenance.
The dogs were removed from the residence and received emergency medical treatment through the Hornell Humane Society. Sheriff Jim Allard thanked the organization for its assistance with the investigation.
All three defendants were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to answer the charges in Canisteo Town Court.
