One person was injured Tuesday morning after a fire broke out at the Rodeway Inn in Ithaca, a facility currently being used for emergency shelter placement through Tompkins County.
Emergency crews from the Ithaca Fire Department were dispatched to the hotel around 10:20 a.m., according to Tompkins County scanner traffic.
County officials said one shelter resident was transported to the hospital for treatment following the fire. Information about the extent of the injuries was not immediately released.
The Rodeway Inn has been used by the Tompkins County Department of Social Services as part of its emergency housing program.
Officials said the fire was contained to a single room, though sprinkler activation caused water damage to two neighboring rooms.
Tompkins County officials said staff members are working with the hotel’s ownership group and Volunteers of America, which operates the shelter program at the site, to repair the affected rooms as quickly as possible.
The county also said it will continue monitoring the safety and well-being of residents staying at the shelter.
No information about the cause of the fire had been released as of Tuesday afternoon.
