Auburn Juneteenth celebration planned for June 20 at Booker T. Washington center

Auburn Juneteenth celebration planned for June 20 at Booker T. Washington center

Food vendors, live music, family activities, and a community celebration of culture and history will take center stage in Auburn next month during the city’s Juneteenth observance.

The Juneteenth event is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Booker T. Washington Community Center on Chapman Avenue in Auburn.

Organizers say the event will feature live entertainment throughout the afternoon, including performances by the Diana Jacobs Band, TrumpTight315, Perform 4 Purpose, DJ Quis, Christina House, Diamante Swift and the Big Steppas dance team. A Miss Juneteenth crowning is also planned as part of the celebration.

The event will include a variety of family-focused attractions, including inflatable obstacle courses, basketball shootouts, skee ball, slime-making activities, face painting, caricatures, crafts, and other activities for children.

Food vendors scheduled to participate include Azzurri NY Style Pizza, Dugan’s Country Grill, Fruity’s Treats, Georgia Soul Food, With Love & Soul Catering, Muzzi’s D’Italia Ice, The Sip Beverage Co., and other local businesses.

The celebration is hosted at the Booker T. Washington Community Center and supported in part by United Way of Cayuga County and Tour Cayuga in the Finger Lakes.

Organizers are also seeking additional local vendors interested in participating in the event.
