Syracuse woman charged in Seneca County theft investigation, wanted in Pennsylvania

A Syracuse woman accused of stealing more than $1,500 worth of merchandise from a Town of Junius business was also found to be wanted in Pennsylvania on an aggravated assault-related warrant, according to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Timothy Thompson said investigators arrested 49-year-old Isophine Butts around 12:30 a.m. on May 23 on charges of fourth-degree grand larceny and fugitive from justice.

Authorities allege Butts entered a business in Junius on four separate occasions and left without paying for multiple items. Investigators said the total value of the stolen property was $1,523.57.

During the investigation, deputies also discovered Butts had a full extradition warrant out of Pennsylvania for failing to appear in court on aggravated assault charges, according to the sheriff’s office.

Butts was held at the Seneca County Correctional Facility pending arraignment in Centralized Arraignment Part Court at the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
