Police in Penn Yan Police Department say a Penn Yan woman was charged after a 3-year-old child wandered away from a residence and entered a local store alone while looking for their parents.
Officers said they were called to the business after the child walked into the store unattended. An investigation determined the child had been under the care of 24-year-old Angel R. Conley of Penn Yan when the child left the residence, crossed two streets, and entered the store.
Police said officers were able to locate the child’s father and safely reunite the child with him.
Conley was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
