Police in the Village of Bath Police Department say a Bath man was arrested Sunday after allegedly violating a stay-away order of protection tied to an earlier knife threat investigation.
According to police, officers were dispatched May 18 to an apartment building on West Washington Street for a reported order of protection violation involving 32-year-old Celestino Nieves of Bath.
Authorities said the protected party and a witness reported that Nieves violated a complete stay-away order of protection. Police said the order had been issued after Nieves allegedly threatened the victim with a knife in late April.
Police arrested Nieves around 4:27 p.m. and charged him with second-degree criminal contempt, a Class A misdemeanor.
Officials said Nieves was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail, where he was later released without bail.
