Cornell president cleared after protest incident

A confrontation between Cornell students and the university’s president escalated after a car driven by President Michael Kotlikoff rolled over a student’s foot, according to WSYR.

Cornell trustees cleared Kotlikoff of wrongdoing after a university police investigation. Student activists dispute the findings and now want an outside agency to investigate, arguing Cornell can’t objectively police itself.

Tompkins County prosecutors declined to file charges against either side. The dispute stems from a protest over campus speech policies, and video from the scene reportedly contradicted part of Kotlikoff’s initial account about students hitting his vehicle.
