A roadside protest in King Ferry drew dozens of residents after a third migrant dairy worker was detained in six weeks, according to The Citizen. Organizers with the Finger Lakes Rapid Response Network said fear is spreading through immigrant communities after multiple detentions near local dairy farms.
About 60 people gathered outside Carmelo’s Grocery and marched along Route 34B carrying signs and chanting against immigration enforcement. Protesters placed a wooden butterfly marker where two workers were detained earlier this spring.
Speakers described families disrupted by deportations and detentions tied to recent federal immigration actions in Central New York. Organizers said many workers now avoid public spaces because they fear being stopped by immigration agents.
