Ontario County Sheriff reports 16,800+ police calls, 136 arrests in April

Law enforcement activity remained steady across Ontario County in April, with thousands of calls for service, more than 100 arrests, and no fatal crashes reported during the month.

Newly released data from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies and emergency personnel handled 16,872 police calls in April, along with 1,481 EMS calls and 449 fire calls.

Within the jail system, the average inmate population stood at 92, with 92 male and 22 female admissions recorded during the month. The facility also processed 70 arraignments and logged 653 medical encounters. A total of 27 individuals were released on their own recognizance.

On the law enforcement side, deputies recorded 3,316 total events, including 928 traffic stops and 149 calls at Eastview Mall. The office reported 136 total arrests, including 14 for driving while intoxicated.

Notably, the agency reported zero overdoses and no Narcan use during the month — a data point that stands out amid ongoing concerns about opioid-related incidents.

K-9 units were active throughout April, responding to 40 events, while the office processed nine pistol permit applications.

Crash data shows 126 property damage accidents and 28 personal injury crashes, along with 47 vehicle-deer collisions. No fatal motor vehicle accidents were reported.

Officials say the monthly snapshot reflects the wide range of responsibilities handled by the Sheriff’s Office, from patrol and emergency response to corrections and court-related duties.
