Seneca Falls deli to close after 33 years serving community

A fixture in downtown Seneca Falls for more than three decades is preparing to close its doors, marking the end of an era for a business that became part of daily life for generations of residents.

Seneca Falls Downtown Deli announced it will shut down on May 15 after 33 years in operation, with owners Ann Marie and Nicholas Sandroni saying the decision comes as they prepare for their next chapter.

The deli, which has operated since 1994, built a loyal customer base over the years, serving as both a lunch stop and a gathering place where relationships formed as steadily as its menu staples.

In a message to customers, the Sandroni family reflected on the personal connections made along the way, noting they had watched families grow and built friendships that extended well beyond the counter. They described the decision to close as difficult, but one they felt was the right time to make.

The business will remain open through May 15, giving customers a final opportunity to visit, say goodbye, and use any outstanding gift cards.

For many in Seneca Falls, the closure represents more than the loss of a local eatery. It marks the departure of a longstanding small business that helped define the character of the downtown and served as a familiar presence through decades of change.
