The Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team dropped both games of a Tuesday doubleheader to Jamestown Community College, falling 6-5 and 14-10 in Dryden, as the Panthers slipped to 4-31 overall and 1-22 in the West Division while Jamestown improved to 16-19 and 10-12. TC3’s inability to hold a late lead in the opener proved costly in a sweep despite strong offensive production.
In Game 1, the Panthers controlled much of the contest, building a 5-2 lead through four innings. Jamestown trimmed the deficit before capitalizing in the seventh, where a walk and two-out error helped tie the game before a go-ahead single gave the Jayhawks a 6-5 advantage. Tompkins Cortland, which outhit Jamestown 10-6, could not respond in the bottom half. Easton Podbeusek, Keelen Marren and Parker Seeley each recorded two hits, while starter Jose Ramos Jr. pitched five innings and left with the lead.
The nightcap featured another offensive surge from TC3, which collected 14 hits. The teams combined for 16 runs over the first two innings and were tied 9-9 after three before Jamestown pulled away with four runs over the middle frames. Six Panthers had two hits, led by Jack Pilgrim, who added a double and two RBIs. Seeley, Dominic Zona, Podbeusek, Marren and Tim Leary also contributed multi-hit efforts.
Tompkins Cortland travels to Jefferson Community College on Thursday for a Mid-State Athletic Conference doubleheader as the Panthers continue their season.
