The Tompkins Cortland Community College baseball team dropped both games of a Monday doubleheader to Jamestown Community College, falling 18-5 in five innings and 11-6 at Jamestown, as the Panthers slipped to 4-29 overall and 1-20 in the West Division while Jamestown improved to 14-19 and 8-12. Despite productive offensive stretches, TC3 could not overcome big innings from the Jayhawks in both contests.
In Game 1, Jamestown seized control early with three runs in the first before breaking the game open with consecutive seven-run innings in the third and fourth. Jack Pilgrim led the Panthers’ offense, going 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored. Dominic Zona added two hits, while Ryan Barbeau and Logan Meerburg each drove in two runs.
The nightcap featured a more competitive start, with the teams trading runs through the first two innings. Tompkins Cortland built a 5-4 lead in the fourth after scoring in three straight frames, but Jamestown responded with two runs in the bottom half to take its first lead. The Jayhawks pulled away in the sixth with a five-run inning to secure the sweep. Meerburg paced the offense with two doubles and two RBIs, while Parker Seeley added a triple among his two hits. Aiden Hufften chipped in two hits and Zona drove in a pair.
Tompkins Cortland returns home Tuesday to face Jamestown Community College in Dryden, with first pitch scheduled as the teams meet again in a quick turnaround.
