A split vote stalled a key hiring decision in Seneca Falls, according to the Finger Lakes Times. The Town Board voted 3-2 Tuesday to delay bringing in a new town manager for at least a month.
Leaders debated hiring Michael McCarthy, an accountant tied to a firm already reviewing town finances. Some officials questioned whether the town even needs a manager and raised concerns about delayed financial reviews and his fit.
Others argued McCarthy’s experience and lower cost made him a strong option. The board may revisit the decision next month, with some members pushing for more time while others favor a trial appointment.
