Drivers in the Town of Canandaigua could see a series of road closures, detours and construction projects in 2026, as officials lay out an ambitious slate of potential roadway improvements still in the planning stages.
Town leaders say the projects, which span new road construction, resurfacing and infrastructure upgrades, remain subject to change depending on material costs and overall conditions.
One of the most significant proposals includes the Parrish Street Extension, where roughly 1,800 feet of new roadway would be constructed between Routes 5&20 and Route 21, along with resurfacing of the remaining section. The project is expected to require a full road closure during construction. Another major infrastructure effort involves a culvert replacement on Seneca Point Road between Barnes Road and County Road 16, with work tentatively scheduled from July through November and expected to include a road closure within the project area.
Additional resurfacing and rehabilitation work is planned across several locations. McIntyre Road is slated for cold-in-place recycling followed by a new asphalt overlay, while the Stable Gate subdivision could see milling and repaving as early as May. The town is also considering milling and paving improvements on Barnes Road, Arnold Drive, Chatham Lane, Jones Road and Lucas Road, along with various concrete gutter repairs to improve drainage.
Officials say timelines and final project details will be confirmed as planning continues.
