An investigation into an order of protection violation at the Yates County Jail led to an arrest Saturday, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Kristopher J. Mahan, 45, of Penn Yan, was charged following the investigation.
Deputies said Mahan initiated third-party contact with a protected individual while in custody at the jail.
He was charged with aggravated family offense, a felony, and second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor.
Mahan was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
