A longtime Wayne County barbecue spot is shutting down, with rising costs forcing a tough call, according to RochesterFirst .
Heintzelman’s BBQ Pit in Ontario will end dine-in service April 4 after more than a decade. Owner Bob Heintzelman says soaring electric bills, labor costs, and overall expenses made the business unsustainable.
He plans to continue limited barbecue offerings through catering and at Orbaker’s Drive-In. Heintzelman says he refused to raise prices on customers, calling the decision difficult but unavoidable.
