Cornell University has approved budget parameters for the 2026-27 academic year, including a tuition increase for undergraduate students.
University trustees approved a 3.76% increase, bringing tuition to $73,946 for most students and $49,816 for New York residents attending state contract colleges.
Housing and dining costs will also rise 3.76%, with average expenses set at $21,348.
Officials said the increases are driven by inflation and rising operating costs, including salaries, utilities, and maintenance.
About half of Cornell undergraduates receive financial aid, and most aided students will not see an increase in their overall cost.
University leaders said efforts are underway to control spending and limit future tuition increases.
