Garden expansion gains Auburn city support

A growing community garden in Auburn could soon double in size, with plans to add trees, education programs, and fresh produce giveaways, according to The Citizen. Organizers want to expand the Westside Community Garden at Miles-Lepak Park to improve sunlight and boost production.

The proposal includes raised beds, a youth program, and a small farmstand. Organizers say grants—not taxpayer money—will fund the project, with support already coming from local partners.

City leaders voiced strong support ahead of a final vote. Officials called the garden a rare success after past efforts failed and said it’s bringing new life to the park.
