A Christmas Eve disturbance in Farmington ended with a state trooper injured and multiple felony convictions, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Miles J. Martin, 37, was sentenced to state prison after a jury found him guilty on charges that included assault of a police officer, DWI, and aggravated unlicensed operation.
Prosecutors said Martin damaged a vehicle with heavy machinery, drove on public roads and private property, and had been drinking for hours before officers arrived. Authorities said he struggled with deputies and state police during the arrest.
He faces a mandatory minimum of 3½ years in prison and could receive as much as 15 years. Sentencing is scheduled for April 2.
