The Buffalo Bills answered one of the most immediate questions following their decision to name Joe Brady as the franchise’s next head coach.
With Brady officially taking over the top job, uncertainty surrounded who would handle offensive play-calling under the new regime. That question was quickly put to rest.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Brady will continue calling plays for the Bills during the 2026 season. Garafolo noted the move is viewed internally as a “plan for continuity,” keeping Brady’s voice in the headset of quarterback Josh Allen as Buffalo transitions into a new era.
While the offensive structure is now clearer, the rest of the coaching staff remains a work in progress. Buffalo has not yet finalized offensive or defensive coordinator hires. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Denver Broncos defensive passing game coordinator Jim Leonhard is expected to be a leading candidate for the defensive coordinator position.
Brady’s continued control of the offense comes after sustained production. During Allen’s MVP season in 2024, Buffalo averaged 30.9 points per game, second in the NFL. The Bills followed that with 28.3 points per game last season, ranking fourth.
