A Hopewell man is facing multiple charges, including a felony, after deputies say he punched through his apartment wall into a neighboring unit where a child was present.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 12:20 a.m. May 4 to Lakeshore Landing on County Road 50 for a reported disturbance.
Investigators said James P. Richmond Jr., 41, repeatedly struck the interior walls of his apartment with blunt objects, creating a hole that extended into the bedroom of a 14-year-old living next door.
Deputies said Richmond refused to cooperate, prompting authorities to obtain a search warrant before entering the apartment and taking him into custody.
He was charged with felony third-degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal possession of a weapon after deputies reported finding a pair of nunchaku inside the apartment.
Richmond was transported to the Ontario County Jail, where he is being held pending court proceedings.
