Cayuga Community College hosts events to connect veterans with benefits and services

Cayuga Community College is teaming up with veterans agencies in Cayuga and Oswego counties this November to spotlight essential benefits and services available to local veterans and military-affiliated families.

The events are part of the College’s fall Cultural Speaker Series and will feature open discussions with experts from both counties. Topics will include compensation, medical care, education benefits, property tax relief, and other veteran-focused programs.

The first session takes place Monday, November 3, at 4 p.m. on the Auburn Campus with the Cayuga County Veterans Service Agency. A second session is scheduled for Monday, November 17, also at 4 p.m., on the Fulton Campus with the Oswego County Veterans Service Office.

“These conversations are a small way to say ‘thank you,’” said Emily Cameron, Director of Community Education and Workforce Development at Cayuga CC and coordinator of Veterans Services. “We know navigating benefits can be overwhelming, and we want to make it easier by giving families direct access to experts who understand the system.”

Both events are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served, and attendees will have the chance to ask questions and gather information in a relaxed setting.

Cayuga Community College is recognized as a Military-Friendly School and offers support services for military-affiliated students.

Registration is encouraged but not required. To sign up, contact the Office of Community Education and Workforce Development at 315-294-8841.
