New York will invest $10 million to create the SUNY Brain Institute, a new statewide research effort to advance neuroscience, Governor Kathy Hochul announced, according to WENY News.
The funding will boost brain research at SUNY campuses in Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Stony Brook, and others. Over 600 faculty members will collaborate on topics like Alzheimer’s, stroke, mental health, and neurotechnology.
Projects already underway include an Alzheimer’s vaccine at SUNY Buffalo and brain injury research at Stony Brook. Funding proposals from each campus are expected in the coming months.
