Despite controlling much of the match, Cornell could not capitalize on its chances. The Big Red outshot UC Irvine 12-6 and held a 4-2 edge in shots on target. Connor Miller led with three attempts, while Westin Carnevale and Giorgos Diakos each added two.

Goalkeeper Ryan Friedberg turned aside one shot but surrendered the game’s lone goal in the 59th minute, his first allowed of the season.

The meeting marked just the second all-time matchup between the programs, evening the series at 1-1-0. Cornell had won the previous contest in 2022, also played in Irvine.
