Ex-White House official enters NY-21 race

A South Glens Falls native with White House experience is jumping into the race for New York’s 21st Congressional District, according to Spectrum News 1.

Dylan Hewitt, 33, who worked on trade policy under President Biden, announced his 2026 Democratic bid Wednesday. He joins farmer Blake Gendebien in the primary for the North Country seat held by GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik.

Hewitt says he’s focused on affordable child care, stronger health care, and reversing Medicaid cuts — and warned that border tariffs are hurting small businesses. Stefanik, meanwhile, is reportedly eyeing a run for governor.
