Who qualifies for a New York inflation rebate?
To be eligible, taxpayers must meet the following conditions for the 2023 tax year:
- Filed a New York State Resident Income Tax Return (Form IT-201)
- Met income eligibility requirements
- Were not claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return
Eligibility will be verified using income and filing data already submitted to the state Department of Taxation and Finance.
How much will you receive?
The rebate amount depends on income level and filing status. According to state tax officials:
- Individuals earning up to $75,000: $200
- Individuals earning $75,000–$150,000: $150
- Married couples (filing jointly) earning up to $150,000: $400
- Married couples (filing jointly) earning $150,000–$300,000: $300
- Married filing separately (up to $75,000): $200
- Married filing separately ($75,000–$150,000): $150
- Heads of household (up to $75,000): $200
- Heads of household ($75,000–$150,000): $150
- Qualified surviving spouses (up to $150,000): $400

When will rebate checks be mailed?
The state will begin mailing checks in October 2025, with distributions continuing over several weeks. There is no specific mailing schedule by region or zip code.
Officials say taxpayers do not need to take any action to receive the payment. Those who qualify will automatically be mailed a paper check.
