A downtown business owner is pressing Geneva leaders to rethink sidewalk rules, saying current policies hurt local shops, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Teresa Cerino of Water Street Café urged City Council to create a coordinated plan for sidewalks, crosswalks, and streets. She argued that relying on property owners for maintenance and snow removal isn’t working downtown.
Cerino told officials that sidewalk conditions directly impact foot traffic and business success, especially in busy areas like Exchange Street. City leaders, however, have not signaled any immediate changes to the policy.
