Senate Republicans introduced a new legislative agenda Monday, aiming to reverse what they describe as the harmful effects of one-party control in New York. The plan, titled “Liberate New York,” targets affordability, public safety, the migrant crisis, education, and government accountability.

“New Yorkers are desperate for a shift in priorities that addresses pressing issues and creates a sustainable path forward,” O’Mara said. “For too long, families have struggled under policies that have made our state less safe, less affordable, and less hopeful for the future. It’s time to restore sanity to state government.”
The agenda comes as Republicans seek to counteract policies enacted under Democratic leadership, which they argue have driven up taxes, increased crime, and exacerbated economic and housing challenges. Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt criticized what he called the prioritization of political agendas over the well-being of average New Yorkers.
“Migrant gangs terrorize neighborhoods, farms are shuttering, and families can barely afford to stay here,” Ortt said, pointing to congestion pricing and regulatory mandates as examples of misguided policies.
The “Liberate New York” agenda outlines five key priorities:
- Providing affordability and economic opportunity to ease the financial burden on families and businesses.
- Creating a safer and healthier New York by addressing crime and public health concerns.
- Ending the migrant crisis through policy reforms that Republicans argue are long overdue.
- Protecting students and parental rights in education.
- Calling for government accountability to ensure transparency and fiscal responsibility.
Republicans said more detailed proposals will follow in the coming weeks as they work to address what they describe as the unchecked progressive agenda that has dominated state governance.
