Ways to lower your dementia risk, according to doctors

A new report in The Lancet outlines key lifestyle changes to reduce dementia risk, emphasizing factors like alcohol consumption, mental health, and physical activity.

Key recommendations include reducing alcohol intake, avoiding smoking, managing diabetes, maintaining a healthy weight, and controlling blood pressure. Experts also advise minimizing air pollution exposure, protecting against head injuries, staying physically and socially active, addressing hearing loss, and continuing lifelong learning.

Other strategies include managing cholesterol, supporting mental health, and adopting a heart-healthy diet, such as the Mediterranean diet. These changes can significantly reduce dementia risk and promote long-term brain health.
