A Yates County man escaped injury early Tuesday morning after mistakenly driving his car into Canandaigua Lake.
Police say 19-year-old Dutcher Samatulski of Keuka Park stopped on the City Pier to rest but accidentally drove into the lake while attempting a U-turn around 1:24 a.m.
Samatulski managed to exit the vehicle and swam to shore, where he was taken to F.F. Thompson Hospital for treatment of exposure and possible hypothermia.
No other passengers were in the car, and police confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the incident. Samatulski was issued a ticket for an unsafe lane change.
