Seneca Falls police arrested a 25-year-old town resident on a felony aggravated family offense charge following a domestic dispute, according to a department release.
Jamison McCoy was also charged with misdemeanor counts of third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief after the Sept. 14 incident, police said.
Officers made the arrest at 4:01 p.m. after responding to or investigating the dispute. The department did not disclose the location of the incident or describe the conduct that led to the three charges.
Police did not release information about the extent of any injuries or the property allegedly damaged. The identity of the other person involved was withheld, which is common in releases involving domestic incidents.
Order of protection requested
McCoy was processed at the Seneca Falls Police Department and then taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment, according to police.
The department said an order of protection was requested on behalf of the victim. Such an order can establish restrictions on contact while a criminal case is pending, but the specific terms are set by the court.
Police did not provide the outcome of the arraignment, identify a judge or list a future court date. The release also did not include information about an attorney for McCoy.
The aggravated family offense count was listed as a felony. The assault and criminal mischief counts were both listed as misdemeanors.
The charges are accusations and the case remains pending. McCoy is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
