High-achieving high school seniors in New York have a new opportunity to stay in-state for college. Nine SUNY schools, including SUNY Geneseo, are offering automatic acceptance to students graduating in the top 10% of their class through the SUNY Top Ten Promise program.
The program aims to attract academically strong students who may lack resources or confidence to pursue higher education.
Governor Kathy Hochul introduced the initiative to promote equity and keep talented students in New York. Set to begin with the fall 2025 semester, the program also seeks to make university education more accessible for low-income students who might not afford it otherwise.
