Binghamton will honor Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling with a weekend of events for Serlingfest 2024, celebrating what would have been his 100th birthday. Running from Sept. 13-15, the festival will feature a video marathon, panels, author signings, and a statue dedication in Recreation Park, a location that inspired one of Serling’s most beloved Twilight Zone episodes, “Walking Distance.”
Serling, a Syracuse native who grew up in Binghamton, is remembered not only for his groundbreaking work in television but also for his contributions to Ithaca College, where he taught from 1967 to 1975. Serling mentored students, screened his own work, and donated his archives to the college.
