Rep. Claudia Tenney's campaign launched its first television ad of the NY-24 race Tuesday, using remarks from Upstate New Yorkers to promote her record on taxes and household costs.
The ad, titled “Us,” places Tenney alongside people the campaign says she represents. Her campaign announced the spot Sept. 22 and said it will run across the district on broadcast, cable and streaming television, as well as radio.
The campaign said the ad focuses on families, farmers, seniors and local communities. It presents tax relief and lower utility costs as central themes, but the release did not provide a spending figure, a schedule for the ad buy or an independent assessment of the claims made in the spot.
One person featured in the ad calls Tenney a champion for constituents in Washington, according to the campaign's release. The release did not identify that speaker or provide a full transcript of the advertisement.
Tenney said she would continue working to lower utility costs, protect seniors from taxes on Social Security and provide tax relief for working families. She also criticized Gov. Kathy Hochul and Albany Democrats over taxes. Those characterizations and claims about her record are the campaign's, not independently established findings in the announcement.
The release described “Us” as the campaign's first ad for the NY-24 race. It did not identify an opponent, describe a specific new policy proposal or say how long the spot will remain on the air.
