A new affordable housing project could be on the horizon at the Inlet Island in Ithaca, thanks to a proposal by two individuals.

Announced on Wednesday and reported by The Ithaca Voice, the plan includes demolishing existing structures at 900-912 West State Street to make way for a sustainable, four-story building.

The proposed structure would feature a mix of commercial spaces and 24 apartments specifically designed for lower-income seniors, incorporating modern materials and a design reminiscent of the iconic flatiron architectural style.

The development, estimated to cost $7-8 million, aims to enhance the connection between West End and Inlet Island, revitalizing a key section of West State Street.
