BOYS BASKETBALL: Mynderse falls to Avon in Class B Far West Regional qualifier 

A great season came to an end for the Mynderse boys basketball program on Tuesday night as they fell 70-48 to Avon in the New York State Class B Far West Regional qualifier at Canandaigua Academy.

The game was knotted at five at the 5:20 mark in the first quarter but the Braves went on a 15-0 run to take a double-digit lead and maintained it for the rest of the contest, outscoring the Blue Devils 40-21 in the first half and 30-27 in the second to advance to the state quarterfinals for the second time in three years. 

Three players scored in double figures for Mynderse, led by Griffin Hilimire’s 14 points. Alan Plummer poured in 12, while Jake Prayne tallied 10.


Trevor Stroud and Michael Rowland combined for 44 points to lead Avon, scoring 25 and 19 points, respectively.

Mynderse finished the season with a 15-9 record and a 10th sectional title.
