A 55-year-old Bloomfield farm worker suffered significant cuts to his lower right leg Wednesday after it became caught in a rotating auger inside a silo, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to 6899 Gauss Road around 2:42 p.m. and found Frank W. Fessner about 100 yards from the road inside the silo.
Sheriff's deputies and farm employee Colton W.R. Fessner applied a tourniquet to the injured man's leg, the release said.
East Bloomfield firefighters stabilized Fessner before first responders worked together to remove him safely from the silo.
Canandaigua EMS took Fessner by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital.
New York State Police, the Bloomfield Fire Department and Canandaigua EMS assisted the sheriff's office at the scene.
