Mets edge Red Sox in completion of suspended game

The New York Mets (46-51) picked up a 5-4 victory over Boston Red Sox (51-47) at Fenway Park on Saturday afternoon in the completion of Friday’s suspended game.

New York fell behind 3-0 in the first two innings, but Brandon Nimmo and Daniel Vogelbach hit two-run homers, and Brett Baty tacked on a run with an RBI single as the bullpen closed it out.

Grant Hartwig, David Peterson, Dominic Leone, Brooks Raley, and David Robertson combined to allow just one run after Kodai Senga allowed three in 3 1/3 innings before the rain Friday.

The Mets and Red Sox will play their regularly scheduled game on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. The pitching matchup will feature Max Scherzer vs. James Paxton.
