Hotel Canandaigua talks about hiring event happening today (video)

From entry-level jobs to management positions, there are still lots of openings at Hotel Canandaigua.

“We’ve had a lot of applicants, but actually having them respond and come through the door I think is going to be the challenge,” said Human Resources Manager Jessie Werth.

So they’re hosting a job fair at the hotel, located at 205 Lakeshore Drive in Canandaigua Wednesday, February 1. It starts at 9:30 a.m. and runs through 5:30 p.m.

“Anyone who comes is going to be interviewed” Werth said. “We have servers, host/hostess, busser, runners, dishwashers, line cooks, prep cooks, banquet cooks, front office supervisor, front desk staff, night audit, banquet servers and staff, housekeepers and laundry attendants.”

Werth explained that Haycreek, the parent company of this property, has a program put together to help growth within the company.

“There’s classes and programs to get those people who really want a career in hospitality to get them there and where they need to be,” she said. “So I’m excited to see that in action.”

But the hotel is technically a Tapestry by Hilton.

“It’s a more relaxed version of Hilton,” said Director of Sales and Marketing Paul Walters. “It allows us to be more flexible, bring more of the community flair into the hotel as well.”

And in terms of events, they’re already booking out.

“We have a beautiful outdoor tent and we have about 15-thousand square feet of event space,” said Catering and Sales Manager Noelle Whitford. “Each one of them has a view of the lake. Where else do you find a place like that? From an event aspect, I see not just weddings and social activities. From the corporate lifestyle I was wondering how much corporate we’ll actually see. We’re actually seeing a lot of draw for the retreats.”
