Home energy bills are expected to be upwards of 40% higher this winter. Especially when it comes to heating those homes.
So what’s being done?
Help exists for low-income New Yorkers, at least that’s what state and federal law makers have been saying.
Now though, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand says even more funding has been approved to help the fight.
An additional $1 billion will be spent, thanks to recent approval, to help tens-of-thousands of people across the U.S.
That money will be important for low-income New Yorkers.
“As the days gets shorter, and the weather gets colder, it’s important that we do everything that we can to make sure New Yorkers have what they need to survive,” Gillbrand said in an announcement.
The funding will help with the supplemental Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
